While the library may be closed for fun events, we still want to make sure you have a fun summer. Sign-up on Eventbrite for a craft kit of the week! Please request as many craft kits as there are children that will be doing them.

This week we’re painting ceramic llamas. Kits are available for curbside pick up on Tuesday, August 4. Once you’ve reserved your kit online, stop by the library between 11-12 and 2-4 to pick up your kit. When you get to the library stay in your car, and call the library at 781-751-9283. A staff member will bring the kit to your car. Please request a kit only if you are able to pick it up on the pick-up date. Children may complete crafts right away or join us on Zoom on Thursday, August 6 at 2:00 p.m. to do the craft with us or to show off their completed craft.

Katie, Registered Dietitian from Food Explorers will walk us through making some delicious Peach & Strawberry Scones! Fun fact: Katie moved to America from England when she was 13 years old, and grew up eating scones. Now you can learn how to make them!

You will need the following ingredients for this recipe: fresh strawberries,1 peach (optional), flour, sugar, baking powder, 1 egg, 6 TBSP butter, milk and confectioners sugar.

This program will use Zoom, and the Zoom link will be emailed to you before the program begins”. Space is limited, so please, only register if you know you will be able to attend. Thank you!

Kids Coloring to Classical Composers!

This fun interactive class will get your kid’s hooked on classics! You will have the opportunity to draw, move, listen and laugh to live classical music played by Dedham’s own Michael Leidig on the piano!! Michael will be playing selections from Bach, Handel and Scarlatti, everyone is welcome to come, listen and play! Bring some crayons, colored pencils or paints and be ready to get creative!

Adults and kids alike should join us as we reinterpret Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” Masterpiece! The reinterpretation is up to you! Bring any and all of your art supplies, or even a piece of paper and pencil and feel free to reinvent this painting in any way you see fit. Not comfortable with painting or drawing? Come write a poem about this Masterpiece!

If you’ve been wanting to pick up that paint brush, wait no longer! Pull out your watercolors and join us in our virtual Zoom Studio through the Dedham Public Library! This is a Free Watercolor Class / Studio Time for beginners and experienced painters. We’ll gather to inspire each other and delight in the variety of colors, styles and techniques.

Gianna will provide a focus for each class; from painting landscapes to shadows, color mixing to painting abstracts. We will do exercises that will benefit beginners and advanced painters. You can work at your own pace, with guidance always available. You will need to register through Eventbrite to receive a list of suggested materials, and to receive Zoom Studio link. Dates:

tortillas, onion, garlic, olive oil, 1 bell pepper, frozen corn, 1 can of beans (Black, Pinto, etc), shredded Mexican cheese, 1 ripe avocado, 1 lime seasoning of your choice (Cumin, Garlic Powder, Chili Flakes, etc).

DIY Fun Friendship Bracelets: 5 week Course

Making Woven Bracelets is a great pastime and really fun, especially if you are stuck at home!

Come every Saturday (through Zoom), at 1 pm, for 5 weeks and learn: forward knots, backward knots, and even backward-forward knots! You would also learn how to read bracelet patterns, which will allow you to make all kinds of bracelets, from very simple to really complicated!

Please register through www.Eventbrite.com to receive a Zoom link and Supplies for all these bracelets. (Supplies will be available for pick up at the Dedham Public Library during the week of September 14th.) Appropriate for Ages 10+, Teens & Adults.

Ever wanted to try hand lettering, but didn’t know where to start? Then this on-line Zoom class is for YOU! Join Swetha Shenoy of The Paisley Corner (https://thepaisleycorner.com/) for a beginner hand lettering workshop. She is a lettering and watercolor artist based in Secaucus, New Jersey. She specializes in custom art prints, hand-lettered artwork, and handmade cards. To make this tasty dish, you’ll need the following ingredients: 15oz container Ricotta, 3 egg yolks, flour (AP or GF), grated Parmesan, milk, cheddar cheese, butter and optional breadcrumbs. No special equipment required. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask Katie and food and nutrition related questions you may have.
