Bike Safety for Kids: Part 2

We’re excited to have our friends from MA Safe Routes to School back for another virtual bike session. We’ll start with a review of what we shared in June – bike and helmet fit & the ABCs of biking. Then we’ll share info on how to lock your bike, what to wear, where to ride, and other safety tips.

Our program is targeted to students in grades 3-6, but invite your brothers and sisters, and parents to join in! If you have a bike or a helmet, bring them to the session with you!

While the library may be closed for fun events, we still want to make sure you have a fun summer.

Sign-up on Eventbrite for a craft kit of the week! Please request as many craft kits as there are children that will be doing them. This week we’re painting ceramic suns. Kits are available for curbside pick up on Tuesday, July 28. Once you’ve reserved your kit online, stop by the library between 11-12 and 2-4 to pick up your kit. When you get to the library stay in your car, and call the library at 781-751-9283. A staff member will bring the kit to your car. Please request a kit only if you are able to pick it up on the pick-up date.

Children may complete crafts right away or join us on Zoom on Thursday, July 30 at 2:00 p.m. to do the craft with us or to show off their completed craft. Please contact Laura Connell at lconnell@dedham-ma.gov for more information or if you have questions. Supplies are limited.

If you think you will need additional markers or paints for at home please contact us. If the craft kit is not picked up in time it will go to the next person on the waiting list.

Little Lab Coats Presents: Dinosaurs

Walk into a time machine and travel back to a time where dinosaurs roamed the earth. Study how the earth changed from the time dinosaurs lived to today. Examine different dinosaurs and what allowed them to survive in their environment. Create a drawing of what the earth looked like 65 million years ago!

For ages 6-9. This program is brought to you by Noble and Greenough Student, Niki, who has a passion for teaching science.

Read to your favorite Tail Waggin’ Tutor on Zoom. Bliss is a local and friendly dog that is certified with Therapy Dogs International, Inc. During this Zoom session your child will have the chance to read their favorite books to Bliss. Each participant will receive fifteen minutes to read to Bliss. This program is for children of all ages and runs throughout the month of August.

You will need the following ingredients for this recipe: fresh strawberries,1 peach (optional), flour, sugar, baking powder, 1 egg, 6 TBSP butter, milk and confectioners sugar.
