While the library may be closed for fun events, we still want to make sure you have a fun summer. Sign-up on Eventbrite for a craft kit of the week! Please request as many craft kits as there are children that will be doing them. This week we will be painting wooden crocodiles! Kits are available for curbside pick up on Tuesday, July 7. Once you’ve reserved your kit online, stop by the library between 11-12 and 2-4 to pick up your kit. When you get to the library stay in your car, and call the library at 781-751-9283. A staff member will bring the kit to your car. Children may complete crafts right away or join us on Zoom on Thursday, July 9 at 2:00 p.m. to do the craft with us or to show off their completed craft. Please contact Laura Connell at lconnell@dedham-ma.gov for more information or if you have questions. Supplies are limited. If you think you will need additional markers or paints for at home please contact us. If the craft kit is not picked up in time it will go to the next person on the waiting list.

Read to your favorite Tail Waggin’ Tutor on Zoom. Bliss will be available to read to in 15 minute increments. At this time we’re only scheduling two readers at a time to see how long Bliss is able to sit and listen. Bliss is certified with Therapy Dogs International, Inc.

Please join Ms. Laura for Storytime on Zoom during the months of July and August. Let’s stay connected while we’re apart and read, dance, and have fun together! Participants will “shake their sillies out” to fun songs right from the comfort of their own home. This program is intended for children ages 0-5 with their caregiver.
Please reach out to Laura Connell at lconnell@minlib.net for more information.

Are you ready to meet up with others on Zoom to create and socialize? We’re continuing our monthly “Fiber Fun Time”!
Everyone will focus on their particular craft or art project, meanwhile we can talk about techniques & tools we’re using, and we can even demonstrate for each other.
We’ll be able to share information and images of our fabulous creations! Bring your current project; spoon carving, painting, bookmaking, paper craft, sculpting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, needle-felting projects, whatever!
You’ll be in good company to inspire, support and feed your creative soul.
Please contact Gianna at gbird@minlib.net if you have any questions.

Join Katie, Registered Dietitian from Food Explorers to make some Mac & Cheese bites! You’ll learn how to make your own delicious cheese sauce from scratch, and play a game of nutrition trivia while they bake.
You’ll need the following ingredients for this recipe: elbow pasta (or other small pasta), 1 onion, flour, butter, cheddar cheese, milk and optional parmesan & breadcrumbs.
Please register through Eventbrite in order to get your Zoom link and any additional information.
Space is limited, so please be considerate and let us know if you register, but then cannot attend. Contact Gianna at gbird@minlib.net with any changes or questions. Thank you!!!

Although Heather’s primary focus is on Honey Bees, she has researched and worked with the Asian Giant Hornet and comes to us with a wealth of knowledge.
Her talk will be about this research and will followed by an opportunity to ask questions.
Please register through eventbrite to receive a Zoom link.
Contact Gianna at gbird@minlib.net if you have any questions.
Heather has been a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Wellesley College in Massachusetts since 2009. At Wellesley, her research continues to focus on mechanisms of social communication and organization, including honey bee behavior, the chemical ecology of colonies, the microbiology of queens and workers, and impact of nutritional stress on workers. Recently, her work has expanded to examine these topics in bumblebees, Asian honey bees, and hornets. Heather’s research program is supported by a dedicated group of Wellesley students, collaborations with colleagues from universities across North America, and by many colonies of bees that her lab maintains on the Wellesley College campus.
