Graffiti: Stylized Writing Workshop - Part 1 @ Main Library | Dedham | Massachusetts | United States
Ever wonder what Graffiti is all about? Join us for a talk and stylized writing workshop with a Graffiti/Writing Artist.

He will talk about history and what is happening currently with this art form.

We will also explore lettering and experiment with creating our own.

Our artist has a background of writing on walls in the mid 90’s and then working on building walls in the 2000’s as a carpenter.

He is currently involved in creating a city-wide beautification & preservation project aimed at providing low cost murals to the public while celebrating history and diversity within the community as well as encouraging shopping local and supporting long standing businesses.

Adults, Teens and Children aged 10+ welcome.

CANCELED // “Style Wars” Movie Screening @ Main Library
Mar 19 @ 6:15 pm – 8:00 pm
CANCELED // "Style Wars" Movie Screening @ Main Library | Dedham | Massachusetts | United States

Join us as we continue our Graffiti Series with “Style Wars”, a documentary film that premiered in 1983, when the world received its first full immersion in the phenomenon that had taken over New York City. The urban landscape was physically transformed by graffiti artists who invented a new visual language to express both their individuality, and the voice of their community.

In STYLE WARS, New York’s ramshackle subway system is their public playground, battleground, and spectacular artistic canvas. As MC’s, DJ’s and B-boys rock the city with new sounds and new moves, we see street corner breakdance battles turn into performance art.

Winner of Best Documentary at Sundance Film Festival.

Featuring: graffiti writer Case/Kase 2

graffiti writer Skeme and his mother

graffiti “villain” Cap

graffiti writer Dondi Seen and Shy 147

graffiti documentarian (and co-producer of the film) Henry Chalfant

breakdancer Crazy Legs of Rock Steady Crew
