The Dedham Public Library Middle Grade Book Club is meeting again in September. Do you know a student in grades 5-8 who loves to read? Send them our way!

Participants will register for this event on Eventbrite where they will receive a secure link to our Zoom book club. For the month of September we will be reading “The Girl Who Drank the Moon” by Kelly Barnhill and meeting on Monday, September 28 at 4:00 p.m. We will discuss the book and also talk about whatever else we may be reading.

Virtual Non-Fiction Book Club

This is a book club for people who celebrate lifelong learning and are willing to explore new worlds through reading and discussing an array of nonfiction titles on varying subject matters. We will read books on history, sociology, science, psychology, travel, adventure – books that will contribute to a better understanding of ourselves and of the world around us.

First book we will discuss on October 7 is: “The Splendid and the Vile”, by Erik Larson. The book club meeting will take place the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.

The program also includes trivia questions for patrons to ponder and covers Sox history from the Royal Rooters, who launched Red Sox Nation, all the way to the four World Series championships and beyond. It will conclude with a question-and-answer period. Author Martin Gitlin will have autographed and personalized copies of his book available online following the program.

Join Swetha Shenoy of The Paisley Corner (https://thepaisleycorner.com/) for a beginner hand lettering workshop. She is a lettering and watercolor artist based in Secaucus, New Jersey. She specializes in custom art prints, hand-lettered artwork, and handmade cards.
